| Opatija is a healthy city |
|
Since 2008 the City of Opatija is proudly bearing the title „Opatija – healthy city“, for which title has been hardly and patiently worked during the passed years. Thanking to health and social programs of Opatija, that are becoming richer and more diversified, as also to other actions taken, conditions have been made to satisfy the high criteria for the title „healthy city“, and so Opatija has found itself among the about thirty Croatian cities that appertain to the healthy cities network.
The objective of the Program „Opatija healthy city“ is the achievement of the target strategy of the World Health Organization: „Health for everyone in the 21st century“ and the education of citizens on the healthy way of living, in order to provide the realisation of fundamental and special goals. The main goals are: promotion of the basic ideas of the „healthy city“ movement, the sustainable development and inter-sectorial cooperation, while the special goals are: citizen's education, development of the awareness of citizens and institutions responsibility for the health conditions in the City area, cooperation and solidarity with other environments. |
